Our Mission Statement:
Abortion hurts. Christ heals. That is the message of In Our Midst Ministries.
In Our Midst Ministries was founded on the belief that abortion hurts everyone it touches. As servants of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are devoted to Him, first and foremost, and to serving Him on behalf of those wounded by abortion. At In Our Midst Ministries, you will find compassionate understanding, accurate information, and a passion to share our knowledge and experience with those interested in ministering to the post-abortive, all aimed at helping the hurting find healing in Jesus Christ according to Isaiah 61:1-4 and Ephesians 4:12.
At In Our Midst we are here to share the truth of abortion - who has abortions, why they have them, how abortion affects their lives afterward, and what we, the hands and feet of Christ can do to minister to them. We feel a special burden for those Christians suffering silently in the pews each week due to past abortions, as well as those serving in pregnancy centers and other pro-life organizations that remain bound by the secrecy of their own abortion experiences.
Our Purpose:
To raise awareness regarding the need for specific programs to minister to the hearts of those individuals who have been hurt by abortion and other sexual sin, and to provide the information, tools and resources to meet those needs.
Our Goals:
- To reduce condemnation toward the post-abortive
- To increase compassion for the post-abortive
- To equip churches to create a safe and trustworthy environment for the post-abortive to obtain the healing they need by:
- Fostering compassion for the post-abortive among the non-abortive
- Reassuring the post-abortive of God's desire to heal them, to reconcile them to right relationship with Himself, and to restore them to effective service
- Validating the pain of the other victims of abortion - the innocent bystanders that were powerless to stop or prevent an abortion
- Providing accurate information, solid educational resources, and powerful personal testimonies
- To facilitate healing of those wounded by abortion so that may become all God meant them to be
- To reduce the incidence of abortion in the Church and the world

Mary Comm is the Founder and Director of In Our Midst Ministries and
A Safe Place Abortion Recovery Center. In Our Midst was established to raise awareness about and to cultivate compassion for those that have been wounded by abortion, and to assist and equip the Church and parachurch organizations to develop in-house abortion recovery ministries. A Safe Place was established to provide a safe, confidential environment in which anyone wounded by abortion can begin or continue their healing process. A Safe Place is a division of In Our Midst Ministries. In Our Midst is a 501(c)-3 non-profit organization.
Mary is the author of Secret Sin: When God’s People Choose Abortion, published by Morgan James Publishing, 2006 and Building Bridges: Paving the Way for Partnering with the Churches in Your Area, Morgan James Publishing 2008. She became involved in abortion recovery in 1996 when she founded SafeHaven Ministries,Inc., an online peer-support site for the abortion-minded and the post-abortive. Mary has been featured on various radio programs including Focus on the Family’s Family News in Focus and Moody Radio’s Midday Connection. Mary resides in Loveland, Colorado with her husband and two children.

Joel is an Internet entrepreneur having been in business on the World Wide Web since 1995. He has built and successfully marketed and promoted well over a dozen web sites, two of which are ranked in the top 20,000 on the Internet. He is a New York Times best selling author, a skilled speaker and motivator, e-publisher, and innovator. Joel trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1988. He has led a men's accountability group in the past and served on the children's church team teaching biblical truths to third through fifth graders. His passion is helping people live their dreams and to become what God created them to be.
- Ken Surritte, Board Member: Ken Surritte joined In Our Midst's Board of Directors in 2006. He is the Co-Founder and President of Hearts and Hands International, a foundation formed to help children at risk around the world. Hearts and Hands assists by providing programs and volunteer teams to help with needs of children. Ken served as Associate Pastor of a church for sixteen years prior to receiving the call to serve through the ministry of Hearts and Hands. He brings years of ministry experience to In Our Midst, as well as a true servant's heart.
